Let Your Dentures Be ‘All’ They Can BeTuesday, May 17th, 2016
Al lost all his teeth about four years ago. He’s lived with dentures, although he would tell you that it’s not the same as having teeth.
Sure, Al’s smile looks smashing when he takes a picture with his family, as long as his dentures stay in place.
Al has grown tired of the way his dentures slip out at the worst times. They came loose when he was speaking at his daughter’s wedding. Just last week, they fell out when he was trying to place an order at his anniversary dinner with his wife.
And speaking of dinner, Al has figured out that some foods are too much trouble to eat. Either they are too hard to chew, or he has to use a dental adhesive when he eats them. When he does use an adhesive, it often interferes with the flavor of his food.
Al recently learned about All-on-4 dental implants. Since he lives close to Danville, IL, he’s made an appointment with Dr. Fuesting at Advanced Smile Arts to find out if he is eligible for this dental implant procedure.
Al’s First Appointment
Before we continue, we want you to know that Al is a fictional character, although he shares many of the same concerns as patients in similar positions.
When Al arrived at Advanced Smile Arts, he was greeted by a friendly member of the staff before starting his free consultation with Dr. Fuesting.
Al was feeling a little anxious before he arrived, but the dentist was so comforting and calming. He listened as Al explained the problems he has been having with his dentures, and he talked about what he had learned about All-on-4 dental implants from his own research.
Dr. Fuesting examined Al’s jaw to make sure he had enough bone mass to support dental implants. After confirming that Al was a good candidate for All-on-4, the dentist patiently answered all of Al’s questions.
The dentist also took the time to explain how Al could get his new implant-supported dentures in a single visit with the Teeth-In-A-Day® process.
This made Al more excited than ever to get started. Before he left, he scheduled his next visit, which is when he would receive his dental implants.
Dental Implant Day
On the day of his appointment, Al arrived a little early. He was eager to get his implants, although he was still a little anxious about the actual procedure.
Often dentists will place several dental implants to support and secure a set of dentures. With All-On-4, the dentist places just four implants in strategic locations to provide the maximum benefit for each.
Two implants are placed near the front of Al’s mouth, and two implants are placed diagonally closer to the back of his jaw. By using fewer implants, Al’s healing process will move faster.
Before he leaves, the dentist will place a temporary set of dentures on his implants. This will allow Al to have dentures that he can use as his mouth heals.
After he had time to fully recover from the procedure, the dentist placed Al’s new, permanent dentures onto his All-on-4 dental implants.
Four Years Later
Four years after getting his All-On-4 implants, Al is as happy as he’s been in a long time. His “teeth” haven’t fallen out one since his permanent dentures were placed. In fact, they haven’t even come loose a single time.
On top of that, Al is looking forward to his 44th anniversary meal with his wife. He is taking her to the restaurant where he proposed to her decades ago.
He is hoping they are still serving the same food that he ate that night. He never forgot what he had or how delicious it tasted.
And thanks to his All-On-4 dental implants, he will be able to savor the flavor in every bite.
